Where we stand

A landscaping website should be usable by everyone who wants a quote, including people using a screen reader, a keyboard, magnification, or a phone in bright sunlight. We would rather tell you exactly what has been checked than post a badge that means nothing.

Conformance status

This site aims for WCAG 2.2 Level AA and currently meets it partially. An automated audit of all twelve pages using axe-core reports zero violations of the WCAG 2.2 A and AA rules it is able to test.

That result is worth exactly what it is worth. Automated testing catches a minority of accessibility problems. It cannot tell you whether alt text is meaningful, whether the reading order makes sense, or how a screen reader actually announces a page.

About the ADA

We are often asked whether this site is "ADA compliant". The honest answer is that no website can be certified as such. The Americans with Disabilities Act does not set out a technical standard for private business websites, and there is no official certification to hold. Courts and regulators generally look to WCAG, which is why we measure ourselves against WCAG 2.2 Level AA and publish what we find.

Anyone who tells you a badge, a plugin, or an accessibility overlay makes a site ADA compliant is selling something. We have not installed one, and we do not claim compliance we cannot evidence. What we can tell you is precisely what has been tested, what passed, and what has not been checked yet.

What is built in

  • Semantic landmarks and a single clear heading order on every page
  • Every form field has a real associated label, not a placeholder standing in for one
  • Body text meets or exceeds 4.5:1 contrast against the black background
  • Visible keyboard focus on every link, button, and field
  • Descriptive alternative text on photographs; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology
  • The opening logo animation is skipped entirely for anyone whose system requests reduced motion, and it never blocks the page
  • Layout reflows to a single column on small screens without horizontal scrolling
  • A "Skip to main content" link is the first thing a keyboard or screen reader user reaches on every page
  • Each navigation region has a distinct name, so assistive technology can tell the main menu from the footer
  • The current page is marked with aria-current so screen reader users know where they are
  • Navigation and footer links meet the 24 by 24 pixel minimum target size in WCAG 2.2
  • Pages work with JavaScript disabled, apart from the quote form

What we know is not done

  • No full manual audit with a screen reader has been completed
  • The quote form relies on a third-party service and has not been tested end to end with assistive technology
  • Photographs of completed work are decorative in places where a longer description would serve better
  • Body text meets the AA contrast threshold of 4.5:1 but not the stricter AAA threshold of 7:1 in every place
  • The legal disclaimer text in the footer is set small; if it is hard to read, the same information is on the linked policy pages at full size

If something does not work for you

Tell us and we will fix it. If a barrier on this site stops you getting a quote, call or text and we will take the details over the phone instead. You should not have to fight a website to get your yard done.
